Independent Advice. Proven Results. Practical Solutions.
Avi Olender has spent more than thirty years designing and delivering warehousing, distribution and logistics systems across Australia and internationally. He founded AO Logistics Solutions in 2020 to provide advice that isn’t tied to any equipment supplier’s product range.
Based in Perth, he works with organisations across Western Australia and nationally.
Award-winning project delivery
Avi designed and project managed the Toyota WA Parts Distribution Centre, a two-year programme completed in 2010. The project won the Supply Chain & Logistics Association of Australia’s 2010 award for Supply Chain Excellence at both state and national level.
Both sides of the table
Avi’s career has run through three distinct roles, and the combination is what shapes how AOLS works.
Systems. Ten years as Managing Partner at Rasner Logistic Software, building supply chain systems from the ground up. He has worked with Oracle, SAP, BAAN and Microsoft Navision, alongside numerous bespoke packages incorporating RF scanning, voice picking and barcode technologies.
Supplier side. Design and Construction Manager at Dexion, specifying storage and materials handling systems. This is why supplier proposals get read the way they were written rather than the way the brochure presents them.
End user and consulting. Senior Project Manager at Toyota WA Distributor, followed by more than a decade in senior consulting and general management roles, including leading innovation, solutions and delivery at Centurion.
That range means an operation gets assessed before anything is recommended, and any proposal gets judged against a requirement rather than a product range.
What he does
Facility and solution design, including functional specifications and detailed tender documentation for building requirements, storage fixtures and materials handling technologies. Project integration and on-site delivery, including mass relocations from old facilities to new. Supply chain re-engineering using lean principles. Demand and service level analysis. Product profiling and SKU velocity slotting. Distribution and reverse logistics network design. Warehouse management system specification and implementation.
Where he works
Mining and resources, transport and 3PL, automotive and parts distribution, retail and consumer goods, pharmaceutical and regulated products, government and enterprise, cultural institutions, and dairy and food distribution.
The common thread is complexity. Operations where inventory profiles, throughput, compliance requirements or physical constraints make the obvious answer the wrong one.
Project experience
Cultural institutions storage facility, South Australia — designed the specialist storage systems for a purpose-built collections facility. The project won Industrial Building over $10m at the 2026 Master Builders SA Building Excellence Awards.
Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions — purpose-built distribution centre in Perth, one of multiple design and implementation projects over several years.
Leading global automotive brand — Perth distribution centre supporting more than 51,000 SKU movements daily.
Leading transport services provider — scanning system upgrade across 400 devices and 6,000 daily transactions at a Perth hub, delivered without disrupting operations.
Speaking
Avi presented on lean warehousing at the SMART Conference in 2013, covering the theory and practice of applying lean principles to warehouse design.
